Riassunto (Inglese)
In project-intensive organizations operational data are captured all the time, yet they are rarely usable for governing a portfolio. This thesis starts from one such situation, encountered in the Project Management Office of a software company in the financial sector. The team coordinates a heterogeneous portfolio of strategically important projects through Microsoft Planner Premium, without any analytical layer alongside it: building a portfolio view required consolidating data by hand, comparing projects was inconsistent, and executives had limited daily visibility.
The work designs, implements and evaluates a solution kept entirely inside the company's Microsoft 365 environment. An automated and historized data pipeline, built with Power Automate and Power Query over Planner's Dataverse layer, feeds a Power BI dashboard that was developed iteratively, through weekly sessions with the team.
The most useful lesson of the project was somehow unexpected. The value did not come from sophisticated metrics, but from organising the information clearly and filtering it quickly,on an interface tailored to the team. Evaluated in a pilot, the dashboard addressed the limitations of visibility, comparability and actionability it was built for.
