Summary
The present research refers to Alfred Wallace and it is divided in two sections. The first Chapter goes through Alfred Wallace’s biography, with particular emphasis to the paragraph named “The origins of the doubt”, referring to the debate between Darwin and Wallace on the evolution theory. Chapter number 2, entitled “An unusual conclusion”, is completely dedicated to Wallace’s thought about human evolution. In this section are exposed various steps of Wallace’s studies about paranormal, which Wallace himself tried to debate with scientific accuracy. The clue of the first chapter is an historic report aimed to understand the strong motivations that induced Wallace to move (distance himself) from official history in order to explain human evolution. In the latter section all the researches relative to human evolution which derived from Wallace’s doubt are exposed. In the century following Wallace’s death lots of researchers tried to develop a conclusive solution for the human evolution theory, and this attempts are exposed in the last chapter of the present work of thesis. Finally, the section entitled “The doubt of Wallace Today” includes an anthology of studies and newer researches referring to human evolution.
