Questa tesi analizza l’evoluzione dei cavi sottomarini, partendo dalle loro origini storiche e dal ruolo fondamentale che hanno avuto nello sviluppo delle comunicazioni globali. Successivamente vengono affrontati gli aspetti tecnici legati alla struttura, alla posa e al funzionamento dei cavi. L’elaborato esamina poi la situazione mondiale attuale, evidenziandone l’importanza strategica, e si conclude con alcuni spunti sul futuro, in particolare sugli strumenti e le tecnologie per la loro protezione e difesa
This thesis examines the evolution of submarine cables, beginning with their historical origins and the pivotal role they have played in the development of global communications. It then addresses the technical aspects related to their structure, deployment, and operation. The work further analyzes the current global landscape of submarine cables, highlighting their strategic importance, and concludes with perspectives on future developments, with particular attention to tools and technologies for their protection and defense.
