The aim of this study was to develop a novel method for the determination of lactic acid in biological matrices as urine and saliva using a pre-column derivatization procedure with 9-chloro-methyl-anthracene (9-CMA) and liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with UV detection at 365 nm and fluorescence detection at 410 nm (λex = 365 nm).
The formation of the lactate derivative and by products was confirmed by LC-ESI-q-ToF.
