Riassunto
The aim of this thesis is to develop a methodology analysis to measure the time-integrated CP asymmetry in Dz->KsKPi decays with very high precision, using the LHCb data sample collected from 2016 to 2018.
This decay channel was chosen because it stood out in recent theoretical works as a viable way to look for CPV in the charm sector with a predicted CP asymmetry of order 10^(-3).
While promising, the smallness of such asymmetry and the presence of many resonances interfering in the final state make the measurement particularly challenging, and needing a highly refined statistical analysis.
In my thesis work, I attacked the problem of performing the CPV measurement using a new approach, that might be regarded as a middle ground between a full amplitude analysis and a simple counting experiment.
The essence of the new approach lies in constructing a custom-made observable of low dimensionality, tuned to the expected Dalitz distribution that I extrapolated from the amplitude model obtained in the Run 1 analysis.
