This thesis explores the theoretical background and practical application of in silico techniques in the world of neuroscience and neurodegeneration, with particular reference to Molecular Dynamics (MD) and single-cell Transcriptomics. Being the capstone of a multidisciplinary course of study, it is eminently choral in its approaches and languages: each chapter adopts the paradigm and mindset of a different discipline, specifically covering Chemistry (chapter 1), Physics (chapter 2), Mathematics (chapter 3), Biology (chapters 4 and 6) and Informatics (chapter 5). All such diverse approaches are essential for a deep understanding of the above-mentioned techniques. Additionally, the thesis combines the two souls of science, namely the theoretical one and the experimental one, as it describes in detail an original research project of the author, concerning transcriptomics.
