Obiettivo di questo lavoro è istituire un dialogo tra Heidegger e Dewey sul rapporto tra arte, esperienza e significato. La tesi che sostengo è che, sia per Heidegger che per Dewey, l’operare dell’arte può istituire orizzonti di significato che sono esperienziali e pervasivi, materialmente ricchi ed emotivamente carichi, consapevoli della propria finitezza, in grado tanto di creare nuovi significati, quanto di dare inizio a sempre nuove possibilità di senso.

The purpose of this dissertation is to engage Heidegger and Dewey in a dialogue on the relationship between art, experience, and meaning. I will argue that for both Heidegger and Dewey, the work of art can establish horizons of meaning that are experiential and pervasive, materially rich and emotionally charged, aware of their own finitude, capable of both sustaining the successful operation of sense-making, and of initiating ever-new possibilities of meaning.
