Riassunto
The study examined the effects of fiscal deficit and public investment on economic growth in Ghana. Using an annual time-series data spanning the period 1991-2021 and estimating an Auto-Regressive Distributed Lagged (ARDL) model, the following key outcomes were obtained; Fiscal deficit conditioned on public investment was seen to affect economic growth positively and negatively in the short run and long run respectively. The following control variables were included in the model of the study on the basis of theory and literature review: gross fixed capital formation, inflation, foreign direct investment, trade openness, foreign aid, population growth rate and real effective exchange. The study concludes with a discussion of the studies implication for theory and practice.
