Summary
This work aims to highlight the differences in the response of the vine to the different availability of water in the soil, both from a vegetative and a productive point of view. The amount of water supplied varies in relation to the different water management, three were considered: non-irrigated (dry), fully irrigated (full) and partially irrigated (deficit). the thesis is part of an irrigation experiment that began in 2019.
The paper presents the current and past state of the art on the use of irrigation in viticulture. The various types of irrigation systems used by wineries and the main strategies applied are exhibited. In the text, a chapter is dedicated to the impacts of climate change on the wine sector and to the adaptation and mitigation measures that companies can implement.
The part relating to the results shows the data collected for the growing season and the 2022 harvest on a plot of Vitis vinifera L. cv. Sangiovese located on the Livorno coast of Tuscany. Both the vegetative parameters of the plant and the qualitative ones of the grapes were analyzed, highlighting different responses of the vine that led to productions that were qualitatively well distinguishable from each other.
