Riassunto
By the end of the century, due to global demographic growth and the rapid technological development of emerging countries, the demand for electricity will be three times greater than it is today. In the search for a large-scale, sustainable and carbon-free source of energy, nuclear fusion will play a vital role in the coming decades. The thesis work aims to study the drip casting process for the production of ceramic breeding material based on lithium orthosilicate for the on-site production of tritium to be fed to nuclear reactors. To do this, the design of experiment methodology was used, which allows to select the significant factors of a process and to derive mathematical models to describe it. The results of this study were then applied to the production of large-scale pebbles intended for thermal conductivity and tritium release tests.
