Riassunto
The aim of this work is to explore the influences of Old Norse literature in Walter Scott's writings. Scottish history was closely linked to Scandinavia, as the northern part of the country remained under the Norwegian political power for most of the Middle Ages. Many Scottish authors of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, among which Walter Scott was certainly the most famous, then, turned to Northern antiquitites for political, linguistic and literary purposes.
