Riassunto (Italiano)
Isolated neck recurrence (IRR) of head and neck malignancies are rare, occurring only in 5.2% of cases. Surgery, when feasible, represents the gold standard of therapy; on the other hand, radiotherapy is indicated for unresectable disease and the role of chemotherapy is often palliative. The higher risk of complications in pre-treatment neck could limit urgeon to perform of salvage neck dissection; however, only few evidences are currently available in case of IRR. For this reason, we perform a multicentric retrospective study with the principal aim to assess differences, if any, between the incidence of complication in salvage neck dissection after primary surgery or radio(chemo)therapy and, as a second endpoint, to identify factors affecting post-salvage surgery outcomes.
