Technological development has always been the key driver of change in the labour market, shaping skills and related occupations. Considering the fast pace of this evolution, policy makers, institutions, training providers as well as employers and job seekers need to continuously keep up to date.
To this end, the present study will focus on the development of new methodologies which can be used to provide real time data regarding which technologies are bound to grow, decline or are currently emerging, and how they are impacting skills and related professional occupations. In detail, after a review of current approaches used to anticipate change, modern data driven technologies will be analysed with particular attention to how text mining can be exploited to obtain the necessary information thus creating value for all the target groups which are majorly impacted by technological change.
Finally, a real case study will be presented with the aim of putting into practice the described methodologies to demonstrate how considerable value can be extracted from available and easily accessible data sources.
