La Vita di Crasso, tra le Vite di Plutarco, è una tra le biografie meno note e studiate, tuttavia è la fonte principale per la ricostruzione della figura di Marco Licinio Crasso. Non essendo rimaste numerose fonti che descrivano in modo puntuale la vita del generale, lo scopo del mio lavoro di ricerca è quello di effettuare un’analisi comparata della Vita di Crasso con le altre fonti che trattano dell’argomento, con l’obiettivo di effettuare un’ipotesi storico-geografica di ricostruzione dei suoi itinerari, indagando anche le motivazioni che potrebbero averlo spinto a seguirli. La ricerca risulta pertanto articolata in tre capitoli che ripercorrono i momenti principali della carriera politico-militare di Crasso: la fuga in Spagna ed il successivo rientro in Italia; la guerra condotta contro Spartaco; infine, la spedizione condotta in Oriente, con la successiva disfatta a Carre.
The Life of Crassus, among the Lives of Plutarch, is one of the least known and studied biographies, however it is the main source for the reconstruction of the figure of Marcus Licinius Crassus. Since there are not many sources left that describe the general's life in a precise manner, the aim of my research work is to carry out a comparative analysis of the Life of Crassus with the other sources that deal with the topic, with the aim of carrying out a historical-geographical hypothesis of reconstruction of his itineraries, also investigating the motivations that may have pushed him to follow them. The research is therefore divided into three chapters which retrace the main moments of Crassus' political-military career: the escape to Spain and the subsequent return to Italy; the war waged against Spartacus; finally, the expedition led to the East, with the subsequent defeat at Carrhae.
