Riassunto
The aim of this thesis was to create a finite element modeling of wear in hip prostheses using the software Ansys.
The initial phase of this work consisted in an extensive literature review of wear, hip prostheses and effect of wear in hip implants.
The finite element model was based on the paper of Matsoukas et al. (2009), in which a direct comparis between in vitro total hip wear testing and a computational analysis was made. The results of this work was than compared with the results of the paper, in particular regarding the total volume loss due to wear.
