Riassunto
More and more nowadays there is the need to identify healthy behavioral models, declined around prevention rather than therapy, lifestyles that can promote collective well-being in an economic way and free from the health system.
Together with an aging population comes a responsibility for ‘healthy’ and ‘successful’ aging .
The “mobile revolution” is offering an unprecedented opportunity to provide medical support when and where people need it. Almost ‘always on’ and highly portable, smartphones provide real-time, on-demand communication, delivering data services and computing power to document and improve the networked lives of their owners .
The Menopause transition represents a time window in which the scrupulous doctor can plan and promote shared behavioral choices in time to plan a healthy aging by neutralizing the increased CV risk and mitigating the short and long-term effects of menopause.
The study aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Vita Nova App in contributing to the reduction of cardiovascular and metabolic risk in pre-menopausal and menopausal women, through a series of personalized interventions designed to support changes in lifestyle and promote healthy lifestyles.
This study will aim to recruit 28 patients in peri-menopausal and early and late post-menopausal to participate in the study and come for clinical assessments.
The primary objective of the study was the evaluation of cardiometabolic risk reduction in menopausal and premenopausal women. The following specific risk indicators were investigated at the beginning of the trial (T0) and at the end of the trial (T1):
- Circumference of life and Life/Hip Ratio;
- Body Mass Index (BMI);
- Number of cigarettes;
- Blood pressure;
- Lipid Profile (Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, TG ).
The study also examined the impact of the Vita Nova system in producing a change in the main behaviors that affect health in the medium to long term. Therefore, the changes in the main determinants of health were analyzed by observing the following results:
- Quality of Life (QoL) perceived as a result of interaction with the behavioural coaching system.
- Usability of the system, with particular reference to the size of the level of satisfaction perceived by users in the use of the Vita Nova App.
The short duration of the study , the characteristics of the subjects involved and the number of the sample, did not allow to observe statistically significant changes in clinical-biological parameters between T0 and T1. Therefore, it was not possible to demonstrate a direct sensitive impact in the level of exposure to cardiovascular and metabolic risk. This was reliable and in line with the expectations of the study conducted. In order to overcome this, the experimental protocol was designed to measure the impact of the system on the main behaviors that determine, in the medium to long term, an influence on health. Taking into account the determinants of health, it was observed that the study participants have:
- Improved their eating habits with increased consumption of "healthy" foods at the expense of "junk food"
- Perceived an improvement in the symptomatological sphere typical of the perimenopausal transition, with positive trends especially in the areas of focus, attention, memory, mood tone and the amount of personal energy perceived;
- Significantly increased the amount of daily physical activity;
- Manifested an improvement in mood tone;
- Manifested an increased perception of well-being and fitness;
- Improved their sleep quality.
