The aim of this work was the study of TiF4- and TiF4(NCMe)2- promoted activation reactions of a series of organic molecules (acetals, ketals, alcohols, epoxides, diazo compounds). Reactions have been carried out under a nitrogen atmosphere; organic products have been characterized by means of IR analysis, NMR, and GC-MS. Fragmentation and/or rearrangement of the organic moiety has been observed; it generally occurs unselectively via C-O bond fission and formation of new C-O, C-H and C-C bonds.
