Riassunto
This thesis is focused on the study of the design of the positron tracker for the muEDM experiment, which aims to measure the muon electric dipole moment with a final sensitivity of 10−23 e cm, using the frozen-spin technique in a compact storage ring. To measure spin precession, an accurate reconstruction of the positron emitted in the decay is crucial, and is achieved with the Cylindrical Helix Tracker, made of stereo layers of scintillating fibers coupled to SiPMs, providing high granularity, fast response and design flexibility. A GEANT4 simulation of the fiber is performed, adjusting its parameters to match real behavior. The complete experimental setup is then considered, and positron tracks are reconstructed from hits coordinates with a Kalman Filter, considering different tracker geometries: after the selection of the optimal one, all the crossing points of the firing fibers are considered and selected by applying pattern recognition criteria before the track recostruction. This work covers also the description of one of the milestones of the last beamtime, and the description of the tracker construction in view of the next beamtime.
