Riassunto (Italiano)
In this work I present an application of data exploration and data mining techniques for analysis of software repositories and bug reports. Previous works focus on developing knowledge extraction models from large software repositories, frequently overlooking an effective organization of the data in support of an efficient and flexible exploration.
The approach presented uses a datawarehouse functionality to organize and manage data extracted from different repositories, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) to explore data, capturing the more interesting trends that are then studied more deeply with data mining techniques. The DM model displays the results of mining software repositories in order to assess developers adopted work praxis to fix eventual problem occurred during the project development life cycle.
The developed methodology and tools will be useful for software development Managers who are interested to know strong and weak points of the software development life cycle and for software developers as well, as a quality improvement tool.
