Riassunto (Inglese)
This work investigates the use of an optical fibre embedded in a woven CFRP laminate and interrogated in OFDR configuration for distributed strain sensing, with a view to structural health monitoring applications. It comprises the design and construction of a dedicated cantilever test rig, the experimental characterisation of the laminate, and a micrographic analysis of the sections to determine the embedding state of the fiber. The distributed readings are compared with a finite element model fed with measured quantities. Tests performed in controlled and uncontrolled environments assess the accuracy of the measurement, the influence of temperature on the stability of the reference, and the effect of a damaged fibre termination.
