The present thesis work aims to implement the lean startup methodology in the early phases of new product development and to propose an integration with the Quality Function Deployment method. The thesis starts with an overview of the context and state of the art of the most adopted business development methodologies. In particular, the analysis focuses on the lean startup approach, a vertical framework particularly tailored on innovation coming from new ventures. The approach has been merged with the Quality Function Deployment methodology, in order to strengthen the effectiveness at the early stages of new product development. The resulting framework has been successfully tested into the commercial refrigeration sector, for the development of a new smart device. The thesis work closes with a comparison of the lean startup approach and the traditional product development approach.
