Riassunto
This work is the final result of a project about Lean Production, developed in partnership with Procter&Gamble Lucca paper-making plant, where Tempo hanky is produced. The purpose has been the study/application of two main lean approaches on the way to Zero Loss: Produce To Demand (PTD) and Value Stream Mapping (VSM). PTD is a planning and execution strategy, wherein daily production is pulled by demand, to gain inventory reduction and customer service improvement. The PTD work starts with the preliminary analyses, which show that there are many missing prerequisites in Lucca for PTD. Three actions plans are developed: to increase hanky lines production capacity, to develop Rapid Change Over in Converting department, and to improve planning process capability. This last gap will be filled through the development of new SAP tools and in process measures, which will lead to the necessary confidence in planning process reliability. Standing the long time required by PTD, Lucca plant has focused in parallel on the shorter approach of VSM: through the map of the Current State, the assumption of a Future State with Zero Loss, and the development and implementation of an action plan, good results in terms of waste elimination are reached.
