Riassunto (Inglese)
This study aims to analyse communication in confrontational settings across different genres, drawing on a sample of fashion-related multimodal texts. It demonstrates how confrontational talk challenges, shapes and negotiates female protagonists's identities. This is achieved through a hybrid Multimodal Critical Discourse Analysis method that is complemented by a Linguistic Pragmatics toolkit (impoliteness and closely-related phenomena). Subsequently, the analysis lays the groundwork for supporting the translation of three of the texts included in the sample, illustrating the intrinsic bond between MCDA and Translation.
