Riassunto
The work analyses Kant's theory of consciousness and its role in the Critique of pure Reason in light of the historical context of Kant's philosophy.
This is done first by reconstructing Wolff's understanding of philosophy and consciousness, which were the most important in the debate of Kant's time. The work then analyses the concept of a critique of pure reason and its genesis on the grounds of Kant's relation with such a debate. After explaining why this concept gives consciousness a very special role in the Critique, the work then furnishes an analysis of Kant's theory of consciousness, and explains how it concretely fulfills such a role in the Paralogisms of pure reason and in the Transcendental Deduction.
