Riassunto (Italiano)
This thesis discusses Irishness and multiculturalism in two recent rewritings of Joyce’s Dubliners by means of an analysis of characters and spaces in a selection of short stories from the two collections.
As far as characters are concerned, a comparison of New Dubliners and Dubliners 100 with Joyce's original collection seems to account for greater openness of present-day Irish people towards other cultures and immigrants.
As to spaces and the way characters relate to them, evidence from primary texts and support from secondary literature seem to reveal different facets of the way the Irish perceive their Irishness and other cultures.
