Riassunto
The world around us is, often, surrounded by barriers: some of them are impassable while others, as doors, give us the chance to pass them by if we are given the necessary know-how. Thus, not only the door opening problem represents a challenging engineering issue for a humanoid robot, but also a task whose achievement could put it on a different – and higher – autonomy level. There are many publications in the literature that present convincing results, usually combining the robot control segment with a section where the process of detecting the position of the target, i.e., the handle, with respect to a given frame is illustrated: this can be accomplished through the more various computer vision techniques. With this in mind, my attention was inevitably drawn to the possibility of providing AlterEgo with an operational stack that would ultimately lead it to open a door.
