This thesis focuses on the effects of content moderation in Social Media, with a focus on Reddit. After a moderation intervention, ideally users reduce the toxicity contained in their posts, but this isn't always the case as toxic behavior may increase or worse, users leave the platform. Machine learning can be a powerful tool for moderators since with the use of a binary classifier predicting whether a user leaves Reddit or not and another predicting whether they decrease their perceived toxicity or not, an insight of whether to pursue or not a moderation strategy can be provided. Regressor can be also exploited to better understand how much the toxicity or level of activity changed.
