Riassunto
Networks-on-chip are often used as interconnect components within heterogeneous multi-processor systems-on-chip, in which applications having different levels of criticality are hosted. The contention on this kind of resource causes a strong correlation, in terms of performance, between software executing in parallel on the different PEs; for this reason, it is important to introduce control mechanisms on such shared resources to guarantee the proper QoS level to each application. The Arm MPAM specifications are defined to achieve this goal, but they are still lacking some features that would make them more effective to ensure both a greater observability and the possibility to enable the configuration of QoS settings to a wider spectrum of policies. This thesis proposes a possible extension of the MPAM architecture to support the implementation of QoS strategies on networks-on-chip and to ensure a real-time monitoring of the behaviour of traffic flows within them.
