Riassunto
The baptismal registers are the most important sources for a demographic investigation about the modern age. In fact, they may help to recontruct the general evolution of a population in a specific area. Some important details emerge from baptismal registers analysis: the immigration, onomastics, surnames and their evolution, the frequency and peculiarity of "children abandon strategies" and even the evolution of slave population. The importance of this kind of study concernes, obviously, the features of the region: Tuscany between XVI and XVII centuries and Pisa, its maritime pole.
