La patologia nota come PCDH19 Female Limited Epilepsy (FLE) è una malattia causata dalla mutazione del gene PCDH19. Il cui fenotipo è altamente debilitante, caratterizzato da crisi epilettiche e tratti dello spettro autistico, nonché da deficit cognitivi. Le crisi determinano l'impossibilità di un sonno continuo e ristoratore, mentre la gamma di sintomi legati allo spettro autistico crea problemi nel stabilire un dialogo con i pazienti.

The disease known as PCDH19 Female Limited Epilepsy (FLE) is a disease caused by the mutation of the PCDH19 gene. Its phenotype is highly debilitating, characterized by epileptic seizures and traits of the autistic spectrum, as well as by cognitive deficits. The crises determine the impossibility of a continuous and restorative sleep, while the range of symptoms related to the autism spectrum creates problems in establishing a dialogue with the patients.
