Riassunto
The purpose of the thesis is to synthesize solid sorbents for CO2 capture at high temperature.
The material studied has been lithium orthosilicate (Li4SiO4): its perfomances as CO2 sorbents have been improved by the use of a mixture of three nitrates – lithium nitrate, sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate (LiNO3, NaNO3 and KNO3).
It has been demonstrated that there is a strongly interaction between lithium orthosilicate and nitrates mixture which improves the CO2 adsorbtion’s perfomances of lithium orthosilicate such as the CO2 uptake (mmolCO2/gsorbent), the adsorption rate (mmolCO2/gsorbent min), the regeneability (n° cicles of adsorption/desorption) and CO2 capacity (max mmolCO2/gsorbent °C).
Other reactions pathway has been considered to obtain lithium orthosilicate particularly based on the hydrolytic sol gel method.
The Stöber method has been modified to synthesize nanoparticles of lithium orthosilicate.
