Riassunto
This thesis is related to the comparison of the results of the ECART and ASTEC computer codes in the simulation of the ThAI Iod-12 test, characterized by a release of iodine gas in a multi-compartmented vessel. This test was carried out in the ThAI experimental facility, having a total volume of about 60 m3 and located at Eschborn (D). The work refers to the analysis of the facility thermal-hydraulics transient in the first 30 hours after the iodine injection inside the ThAI vessel, considering also the iodine behavior and its reactions with the several steel structures and with the sump water. The comparison with the experimental data is focused on the volumes and walls temperatures, helium concentrations, relative humidity, total pressure and iodine concentrations.
Moreover, a further purpose of the present work consists of a code-to-code comparison with the results of other European organizations, which employ different Severe Accident codes (i.e., MELCOR, ASTEC and COCOSYS) in the framework of a benchmark organized in the WP8 of the European project SARNET 2 (Severe Accident Research NETwork of Excellence - Phase 2), in order to provide a basis for a clear differentiation of users input errors and different code models.
