Today’s industrial applications need to meet stringent requirements, in particu-lar strict real-time constraints. Additionally, many environments need also to dealwith the presence of interference. For this reason, a stable communication with highreliability and low latency is needed. Conventional IEEE 802.15.4 based wirelesssolutions may not be able to meet the performance needed in the industrial environ-ment, particularly in terms of reliability and latency, due to the higher vulnerabilityto multi-path fading environments and little resilience against external interferencefrom other networks such as WiFi. TSCH, on the other hand, is shown to be ableto be resilient in this case since it supports channel hopping. 6TiSCH, in particular, offers high reliability for both industrial monitoring andcontrol applications by enabling deterministic wireless communication obtained throughan efficient allocation of network resources among the wireless nodes. However,much of these benefits could not be achieved without a proper scheduler and router.Therefore, this work mainly focuses on a centralized 6TiSCH scheduling and routingmechanism called MASTER and on a framework based on this algorithm able toprovide QoS guarantees to the flows traversing the 6TiSCH network.
