Riassunto (Italiano)
Cases like the Facebook Cambridge Analytica explain why it is important to develop laws and regulations to protect personal data. Since 2018, the main standard in this matter is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union. After six years, what are the concrete effects that GDPR has achieved? To answer this question, this paper was divided into three parts. The first addresses the Enforcement Effect through an empirical analysis of the penalties applied. The second part explains the Brussels Effect with its advantages and disadvantages. And the last part explores the economic effects supported by companies when trying to adapt to the regulation.
