Riassunto
This is the first study aimed to evaluate the reliability of MD-CRS when it is used in patients affected from d-CP.
The current study is performed on 101 children and adolescents aged 0-18 years with d-CP. The affected patients subsequently admitted from June 2009 to March 2018 to the Department of Developmental Neuroscience of Scientific Institute (IRCCS) Stella Maris, Pisa, Italy.
The study design is divided into three parts: i. inter-rater reliability, ii. intra- rater reliability, iii. correlation between Global Class of MD-CRS and levels of GMFCS.
The main finding of the present work is related to a major agreement in the identification of the severity of MD in d-CP because there are higher values of ICC of Index II in d-CP patients compared to previous results.
The SEM and the MDD of MD-CRS in d-CP have very small values, with SEMs ranging from 0.02 to 0.05 and MDD from 0.07 to 0.13. These values are in accordance with the previous results on patients with MD, due to different aetiologies and seem more sensitive than values of other scales in d-CP patients.
An additional value on reliability of MD-CRS is the evidence of correlation between the MD-CRS and GMFCS levels.
The present study confirms that their use also in d-CP children gives valid data related to good psychometric values that are promising for the use of MD- CRS as a standardized clinical outcome measure in the evaluation and follow- up of d-CP children.
