Riassunto
This thesis explores the application and outcomes of a Mindfulness-Based protocol in a sample of patients diagnosed with Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES), a complex and often misdiagnosed functional neurological disorder. Although resembling epileptic seizures from a phenomenological perspective, PNES are characterized by the absence of EEG epileptiform activity and are primarily rooted in psychological and psychosocial mechanisms. The pilot study offers a comprehensive overview of PNES through contemporary etiological models and proposes mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) as a viable non-pharmacological integrative approach to enhance emotional regulation, reduce symptomatology, and improve overall psychological functioning in this clinical population.
