Riassunto
Phase-based motion analysis techniques are powerful tools for structural dynamics, but they suffer from computational slowness and fail in the presence of large displacements. This thesis addresses these two limitations to extend the application scope of video-based methods. To improve speed, the Riesz transform is introduced as an efficient alternative to the standard Complex Steerable Pyramid (CSP), achieving a drastic reduction in computation time. To handle large displacements, a novel "Pixel Pushing" technique is proposed, which leverages the accuracy of CSP to track motion on a frame-to-frame basis, thereby overcoming the sub-pixel constraint of conventional methods. The approaches are validated on both experimental and synthetic data, demonstrating that faster analysis and large-scale displacement tracking are achievable. This makes video-based methods more robust and practical for real-world engineering applications.
