Riassunto
In this paper is proposed a method for the numerical modeling of the combustion process which takes place in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. This is done by a thermodynamical analysis of experimental data that are taken from a reserch engine, and which are matched with the numerical results thanks to a parameter optimization algorithm.
The proposed analysis also deals with defining a model for the prediction of the knocking onset from known initial cycle conditions.
The thesis is developed in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Madison (US).
