Riassunto
The objective of my thesis is the development of an algorithm to improve the tracking efficiency of the Ks at the Belle II experiment. The reconstruction of Ks is challenging due to the fact that the Ks daughters are displaced tracks and the tracking algorithms are optimised for tracks coming from the interaction region.
The Belle II physics program includes several measurements in decays where the Ks is present in the final state, for instance CPV measurements in meson decays are a core part of the program, hence the importance of its reconstruction.
The main source of inefficiency of the Ks reconstruction in the current tracking is the failure of the reconstruction of only one of the daughters; the new developed algorithm aims to recover the missing daughter utilising information coming from the silicon strip detector only and the fitted track of the reconstructed daughter.
The first results indicate that more work is required to optimize the algorithm to improve the efficiency and have a larger impact on physics. The main sources of inefficiencies of the algorithms have been identified and possible improvements are discussed.
