The area of interest of the present thesis is bioinformatics,particularly it is situated within the context of proteomics data visualisation. Due to the huge amount of information provided owadays by mass spectrometers, automatic analysis pipelines have to be designed, an example is GAPP (Genome Annotating Proteomic Pipeline) developed at Cranfield. For these pipelines to be useful and effective to proteomics labs, the front end interface is crucial. In particular the information must be easily accessible and as complete and comprehensive as possible. The thesis addresses these needs, specifically focusing on the design and implementation of novel solutions for proteomics data mining within the concrete context of GAPP.
