Riassunto
The purpose of this thesis is to validate CFD+CHT simulation model for BEV battery packs, taking a LiFePO4 cell as test case. Starting from an aerodynamic evaluation of the flow field around the cell, a thermal model was created in order to study convection and conduction heat transfers. The thermal data of the cell are obtained from a 1D model which gives the heat generation as a function of surface temperature, internal voltage and time. A parameter validation was also carried out in order to both obtain computational accuracy and save resources, the simulation parameters will be: mesh refinement, time step size and iteration per time step.
