The thesis work has been done at Intel Mobile Communications in Neubiberg, near Munich (Germany). The time-delay estimation problem for positioning of wireless LTE (Long-Term Evolution) terminals has been considered. In particular, this work is about the OTDOA (Observed Time Difference Of Arrivals) positioning method, where a LTE user terminal measures time differences of arrivals of signals transmitted by different base stations. Using the PRSs (Positioning Reference Signals) defined for LTE systems, a time-delay estimator has been designed and its performances have been analysed.
