Riassunto
Atrial fibrillation increases the risk of stroke and systemic embolism; in these cases, when thrombo-embolic risk rises, chronic anticoagulation is necessary. However, this medication causes bleeding consequences, specifically intracranial haemorrhages significantly modifies the morbidity and mortality in anticoagulated patients.
The objective of this review is to systematically compare the safety and haemorrhagic risks of vitamin K antagonist anticoagulants and direct oral anticoagulants in patient with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.
