The present thesis tackles the challenge of quantifying the emissions of greenhouse gases
and their accountability at two, different scales, i.e. the global and the domestic one: to this aim, it adopts a data-driven approach to i) map the flows of emissions accompanying the world trade, ii) quantify the energy demand of U.S. data and mining centers, iii) assess the amount of emissions of each, involved actor and iv) evaluate its cleanliness by calculating the corresponding carbon intensity.
