Il presente volume nasce da da una storia personale/famigliare, che tratta la migrazione e i lori flussi durante la storia, i processi migratori, l’integrazione e gli studenti stranieri.
Quasi ogni giorno sentiamo storie diverse che riguardano gli immigrati, provenienti dalle coste del continente africano, che navigano su barche e navi nel Mediterraneo, trascorrendo intere notti nelle turbolente acque del mare, alcuni partiti da soli, altri con la famiglia e i bambini. Privati anche del cibo, non sanno che cosa li aspetta dall'altra parte del mare, là nella “terra promessa”.
La prima parte del volume tratta i tipi di migrazione e le teorie migratorie attraverso cui è possibile comprendere i processi e le cause della migrazione internazionale. Tramite le idee e le ipotesi di ciascuna teoria si può riuscire a comprendere i fattori diversi e casuali che influenzano la migrazione internazionale, e creare nuove politiche in futuro per avere una integrazione degli immigrati più veloce e più completa.
La storia del Europa e molto ricca, piena di successi, disfate, guerre, pace e di collaborazione tra paesi che prima non si vedevano neanche “negli occhi”. Si devono studiare le motivazioni, le cause e gli obbiettivi di queste migrazioni verso l’Europa poiché possono essere visti come
strumenti utili per far fronte a un futuro in continuo cambiamento. Si sono verificati diversi fenomeni migratori durante la storia dell’umanità e negli ultimi anni si sono intensificati gli studi grazie allo sviluppo della migrazione che ha come causa principale la globalizzazione.
L’integrazione degli immigrati e un altro tema trattato in questo volume. L’integrazione tramite le nuove politiche che si devono adattare ai cambiamenti che lo sviluppo tecnologico e la globalizzazione hanno fatto e faranno durante gli anni.
Infine, la parte finale di questo volume è basata su una ricerca quantitativa per comprendere le necessità degli studenti stranieri presenti all’Università di Pisa.

This volume comes from a personal/family history, which deals with migration and their flows throughout history, migration processes, integration and foreign students.
Almost every day we hear different stories concerning immigrants, coming from the coasts of the African continent, sailing on boats and ships in the Mediterranean, spending whole nights in the turbulent waters of the sea, some left alone, others with family and children. Even deprived of food, they do not know what awaits them on the other side of the sea, there in the "promised land".
The first part of the volume deals with the types of migration and migration theories through which it is possible to understand the processes and causes of international migration. Through the ideas and hypotheses of each theory, it is possible to understand the different and random factors that influence international migration, and create new policies in the future to have a faster and more complete integration of immigrants.
The history of Europe is very rich, full of successes, wars, peace and collaboration between countries that previously were not even seen each other "in the eyes". The reasons, causes and objectives of these migrations to Europe must be studied since they can be seen as useful tools to face a constantly changing future. Various migratory phenomena have occurred during the history of humanity and in recent years studies have intensified thanks to the development of migration which has as its main cause globalization.
The integration of immigrants is another topic covered in this volume. Integration through new policies that have to adapt to changes that technological development and globalization have made and will make over the years.
Finally, the final part of this volume is based on quantitative research to understand the needs of foreign students present at the University of Pisa.
