Riassunto
Radiation induces damages inside the optical fiber, increasing the attenuation of light caused by defects.
Launching short pulses of light and measuring the back-scattered light is possible to measure the damages of the fiber in a distributed way and correlate to the radiation level and temperature alongside the fiber.
The result is a distributed sensor for radiation and temperature with spatial resolution of one meter, easy to put in position and remove, economic, light and not voluminous for disposal.
