Lo scopo di questa tesi consiste nel ricostruire il dibattito che si è svolto attorno ai «valori cristiani», prima in sede di Convenzione, poi in Italia, per cercare di capire se sia stato uno degli elementi che abbiano portato al fallimento del Trattato che istituisce una Costituzione per l’Europa (2004), e per verificare quanto la religione sia un elemento di rilievo nella percezione dell’identità europea.

The purpose of this thesis is to reconstruct the debate that took place around "Christian values," first in the Convention, then in Italy, to try to understand whether it was one of the elements that led to the failure of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe (2004), and to ascertain how prominent religion is in the perception of European identity.
