Riassunto
Magnetic reconnection is a fundamental process in space plasmas (and also other plasmas). It converts magnetic energy into particle energy and it is the only process able to modify the magnetic topology in a magnetized plasma.
In this Thesis, I mainly focused on two lines of research. The first one is the use of a new hybrid model with a Landau-fluid closure to perform 2D and 3D simulations of magnetic reconnection. The second one is the use of the "partial variance of increments" to detect reconnection events in 1D signal from (virtual) satellites crossing a (simulated) turbulent collisionless plasma.
