The objective of the thesis is to define a programming of the rail track maintenance based on probabilistic models of degradation. Probabilistic models respond to the need for integrate in the analysis the uncertainties affecting the various parameters input and that cannot be captured by an approach deterministic. Once the model is defined, it is necessary to optimize
the benefit/cost ratio curve to identify a strategy maintenance that allows the minimization of costs and the maximization of railway ballast performance over periods medium-term analysis.
