The aim of the research is about the individuation of the diffusion of the cult of the Nymphs in the ancient Greek world, in particular focusing on the Mediterranean basin. That means the study of the Greece proper and the colonies, in particular in the Great Greece. The work has been concentrated during the archaic period because of the interest to understand the born of the cult and his development. Actually, the results are not complete because of the difficulty of the recovery of the data. Most of them are unpublished. The overview on the ancient sites of cult is settled in a map, freely available on the free platform offered by googlemaps.com. Instead, the most part of the work is concentrated on evaluation of the possibility of the several sites to be verified as sites of cults of nymphs, considering the common elements individuate during the confrontation between them. Few is dedicated to the iconographical analysis, due to the impossibility to have the access to all the materials. The last part of the work does a reflection about the development of the cult and his derivation.
